Scrap & Music Sketch 20!!

Hey Hey! It's time for another fabulous sketch from Scrap & Music!! This time the song we're playing along with is Ho Hey by The Lumineers. I really love this song! You can check out the lyrics on the Scrap & Music blog along with all the other fabulous DT member's interpretations of the sketch!

And speaking of sketch, here it is:

This is my take on the sketch:

I've been trying to scrap about myself these days and kind of turn my layouts into a little more of a journal.  The title of my layout is hard to read, but it's from the Ho Hey lyrics. It says: "I've been trying to do it right" I've added some hidden journaling in the vellum pocket about how I've been really trying hard to be a good mom and a good person and how I feel like I fall short (as I'm sure most of us feel a lot of times), but how I'm dedicated to trying my hardest to raise good boys with good morals.

I actually made this layout with the Scrapbook Nerd Olympic Crop in mind too! This layout was a part of one of my challenges over there to "Try a New Sport (or Technique)". There's still time to play along with us over there too!

I tried a new variation on a not new for me technique and I have to say I kinda love the way it turned out! I often mix Heidi Swapp's colour shine mists with Mod Podge and use them with my masks for a resist, but this time I thought I would mix the Mod Podge with her White mist and the Studio Calico mask. It didn't turn out how I envisioned it would. I wanted it to be more white, but after it dried it was kind of a cool clear shiny white, so I put the mask back on and then just sprayed the white over it to pop the white colour again. I have to say, I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I've been really into using my stamps these days too...I used the Hero Arts camera background stamp on the blue cardstock to make my own patterned paper of sorts, and then I stamped and cut out the Hero Arts skyline stamp too.

The polka dot flair was made with my epiphany crafts round tool and one of the Hey Kid 6x6 paper pad patterns. I love how you can make your own embellishments to match your projects with those awesome epiphany crafts tools!

All of the patterned paper I used is from the Pink Paislee Hey Kid 6x6 pad.

If you like what you saw on this layout and have to have it, you can get all of these products (except the Pink Fresh Studios washi) from Scrapbook Nerd. They ship so fast it's ALMOST as good as instant gratification!! lol!!

Well I really hope you play along with us this time at Scrap & Music! I will be back in the next couple of days with my first couple project life pages!! Stay tuned!

And don't forget to
