Baby Wearin'

Happy Thanksgiving weekend for all my fellow Canadians! I hope you're deep in thought about all the blessings that we can all be thankful for!! I know I am!

For one, I'm thankful that I managed to find some time to play along with the new sketch over at Paper Bakery! They always have such fabulous sketches, and last time I played along, I won a 10 dollar gift certificate to their store!! WOOOHOOOO!! I always love enabling my crafty supply addiction!! lol

Well, I'll stop babbling and show you the sketch and my creation!

And here's what I was up until 2:30am playing around with last night! I know, I'm crazy! But I had coffee at 7pm last night and I was wired for sound! So I figured I might as well play while I can't sleep! I wanted to document the fact that Linden is a total mama's boy and loves to be "worn" everywhere we go! I never had these fabulous baby carriers with my other boys, and I really wish I would have, because I have 2 different ones and they're both amazing! At first before I had Linden I thought I was maybe going a little overkill buying two different carriers, but now I'm really glad I did! They're both total lifesavers!

The title of my layout was inspired by Ashley Horton's layout that she has on her blog right now. I believe her paper is a die cut paper that is pre done with the word LOVE on it. I really loved how having most of the title popping up with some patterned paper underneath really gave the layout a little added dimension. So I grabbed out my trusty Cameo and cut out the word WEARIN' on the side. It took me some time to figure out how to do this so it wouldn't cut out the whole word, but I finally kind of figured it out. Now if you are reading this and you know of an easier way on the Silhouette Studio, please let me know! It wasn't super hard or anything, but I would welcome an easier way for sure! What I ended up doing was making the lines on the words perforated instead of solid, then after it was all cut out, I used my craft knife to cut out all the parts of the letters except the bottoms. Then I adhered some yellow patterned paper underneath it so you can see a little pop of colour in the right angles. After I cut it out, the word still was getting lost in the layout, so I used my Heidi Swapp Color Shine and my water pen and painted some green on the words just to make them pop.

I just got an 8 pack of sketch pens for my Cameo too, so I used the black one to sketch out these two concentric circles on my layout too! Loooove the sketch pens!!

I also used my Cameo to cut out the arrows along the top and bottom of my layout and backed them with some wide ombre washi tape.

I definitely gave my Cameo some well deserved attention last night! The title and the arrow with the heart were also cut out with my little die cutting miracle worker ;)

Well, there you have it! I'm pretty sure I won't be staying up late tonight (I'm barely managing to keep my eyes open right now and it's only 4:30!!), but I did love getting a chance to play again!

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to...
